EMMA BENZ
PAINTINGS & PRINTS
I am a contemporary watercolour artist with a focus on natural and botanical subjects. I am interested in the flora and fauna that frame our lives, particularly the plants that largely go unnoticed. Through my work I seek to harness the benefits we gain from being immersed in Nature.

An artist 'whose work stands out as challenging conventions and breaking new ground'
Gemma Peppe, founder of Art on a Postcard

My studio is based on the Gower Peninsula, Wales and I regularly accept commissions.

I have worked with Fortnum & Mason, London; Le Bon Marche, Paris; The Huntington Art Gallery, California; Cambridge Contemporary Art Gallery, Cambridge; Mission Gallery, Swansea; and I was invited to create paintings for the renowned Art on a Postcard. My work has also been featured in The Times Newspaper. While still studying for my A-levels at school I was a Daily Winner on the tv programme Watercolour Challenge. I was the tutor of Botanical Watercolour at the Henley-on-Thames School of Art up until the pandemic.

My painting 'Summer Foliage - Dyrham I' was selected for the Royal Society of British Artists exhibition 2024 at the Mall Galleries, London. I have also been selected for the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours exhibition 2025 at the Mall Galleries, London.

My background is in Painting Conservation, and I studied at the prestigious Courtauld Institute of Art which only accepts 5 students every year. Before devoting my full time to painting, my earlier career as a painting conservator lead me to work with institutions such as The National Gallery of Wales, Cardiff; Glynn Vivian Art Gallery, Swansea; The Netherlands Institute for Cultural Heritage, Amsterdam and many more.
